The new health care reform legislation requires that a 10% tax be applied to all indoor tanning sessions.
Many are in an uproar due to the increased cost and possible decline in business.
I am not.
If nothing else this new tax draws attention to the tanning industry. It puts into question the safety of indoor tanning salons.
To often in our society, people make decisions based on the right now without considering the long term. This is especially true when it comes to tanning. People are so concerned with having that perfect tan to show off that they give no regard to the long term effects it may have on their body.
The unnatural, UVA rays used in tanning salons may lead to skin cancer.
Shouldn't that be more of a concern for Americans using tanning beds? Doesn't it seem wrong that such a large part of our nation would take part in an activity that has been proven to cause a disease?
If Americans are so concerned over a few extra pennies, maybe they should give up this unnecessary luxury and save themselves the thousands in doctors bills later!
